Receive system internal noise adds to external or ambient noise, and so degrades the signal / noise ratio. This calculator takes the ambient noise figure or temperature and receive system noise figure or equivalent temperature and calculates the degradation in signal / noise ratio.
The results are valid only for linear circuits (ie effects of non-linearity such as intermodulation distortion are not included).
The calculator does not do a lot of error checking, if you enter nonsense, it will probably produce nonsense.
