An article in a series documenting measurements on an IC-7410.
This focuses on receiver Tx power and SWR meter.
The following video captures dynamic operation of both meters better than mere words alone.
The key findings are that:
- the SWR meter does not provide a valid indication at less than about 50W output, at lower output power level it underestimates SWR; and
- the peak hold feature of the tx power meter does not capture Peak Envelope Power on SSB telephony.
Both fairly disappointing for a transceiver that boasts some quite advanced features.
Note: this unit is one with the fixes for the ALC overshoot applied before delivery.
